Hey, my name is Rosemarie Hunter and this is my portfolio. LETTER OF INTRODUCTION WORKSHEET Directions: You will use this as a guide. Once you have filled in the blanks, you will then convert the paragraphs into a Letter. This is to act as a welcoming letter for your Portfolio. Paragraph #1: Introduction This section is used to introduce yourself and what credentials you have. Sentence One: Include your name, grade level or year of graduation, and what CTAE class you are interested in pursuing. My name is Rosemarie Hunter, and I am currently in my senior year of high school. Sentence Two: Discuss what your current strengths, abilities and talents are. (Are you a fast type, responsible, good time management, etc?) My current strengths, abilities and talents are being able to work well with others, work with children and young teens, I type at a pretty fast pass, I am very responsible in the work force and at home, I am great at solving problems quickly with an effective solution and I like to apply my skills and knowledge to everything I do and still have fun with everything I do. Sentence Three: Any type of accomplishments that you’ve achieved (middle/high school, or outside of school) or goals that you’ve set for yourself to achieve later in life. (Explain how you’ll achieve them) In the eleventh grade my team and I won second at a speech convention for Skills USA, as well as roofing a house for a needy family and in FFA I worked as a server and cook for the elderly. My goals I have chosen are to have a job were I can use my skills of leadership and discipline from FFA and Skills USA, to help others in their time of need and still be able to reach them on a personal level. I would like to make a friend instead of a client in my work field. And I have started working on achieving these goals by joining the Marine Core and also going to Jag School to be a lawyer in the military and even after I retire from the military. Paragraph #2: Career Search This section is used to talk about the type of career that you are interested in and what qualities you have that would make you good at it. Sentence One: What type of Career is you interested in pursuing? I am interested pursuing a career in the law force, were I can speak up for those can not speak up for themselves. Sentence Two: Why do you want to pursue this? What about it seems interesting? I enjoy helping others. Being a lawyer seems interesting because I can help people practically twenty-four-seven, and still be able to accomplish things on my own. Sentence Three: What skills or interests do you have now that would help you in this career? I have grown the skills of leadership and the confidence of speaking in front of people by working with Relay for Life, Skills USA, and FFA. I also learned how to quickly find a solution and what the problem might be in a rapid pass. Sentence Four: What types of jobs are available in this career? Where would you be able to work in this career? Working in a law firm or opening one’s own practice. Sentence Five: What would your References say about you if they were asked by an interviewer? My reference might say how hard working I am and how I work diligently. They may say how out-going I am and that I enjoy working with just about anybody and that I have achieved the skills I need to be a lawyer. Paragraph #3: Work Samples This section is used to talk about an example of work that you will be showing later in the portfolio. This is going to be your proof that you would be great in the career listed above. Sentence One: What types of work sample are you using? (Introduction) What made you choose this sample as proof of your knowledge in this career? I will be using samples that show how I can solve problems quickly and effectively. Sentence Two: Give a brief description of what the sample is, when you created this sample, and what you learned from this sample of work. I will be using one of my research papers along with the notes and resources I used to achieve the knowledge to write about the topic. Sentence Three: Write a sentence stating where they can locate the Work Sample example within your portfolio. (What page or section) I will place this sample of work in my ________ file. Paragraph #4: Conclusion This section is used to conclude your portfolio. Wrap up your letter and include any information that you might need to convince employers to look at your portfolio or to hire you. Sentence One: Include any other information that an employer would need to know about you and your portfolio. Include any goal, ambitions, etc. that you have not included within the portfolio. My goals are pretty simple, I would like to own my own law firm by time I am in my late forties, and I know I will learn how by the job I will be applying for in the Marine Core. And also, the employer needs to know that I will be in the military and would have learned discipline, patients, how to work well with others, and leadership. Sentence Two: Closing Describe what you’ve learned with creating this portfolio. Then include a great closing sentence, indicating how you can be contacted if any other questions arise while looking at your Portfolio. I learned that for an employer to choose one for a job that one needs to show the employer who the employee really is and needs to know how well one works.
